The film version of The Count of Monte Cristo is very different from the original novel. The biggest difference is the ending. In the movie, Edmond Dantes discovers that Albert, whom he initially thought was the son of his enemy, was actually his son. And he is back together again with his lover Mercedes. In the novel, Edmond Dantes falls in love with another woman named Heidi in the end. I like both versions of the story because they all end in love rather than hatred.
